Germany has awarded two postgraduate certificates in policing.
The GPD is a four-year postgraduate certificate and allows postgraduates to gain experience in a number of fields including policing.
The second certificate is in Criminal Investigation.
The German Federal Criminal Police (BKA) said the two certificates will be offered to students who are already studying criminology.
They are both part of the German police’s training programme, which started in the summer of 2016 and lasts up to two years.
The two certificates are a “compensation for the training programme”, the BKA said.
The BKA also announced the establishment of a German-language website where students can learn about the German postgraduate qualifications and apply for the certificates.
The website has also launched a social media campaign.
In December, Germany opened a special website for GPD students, the German-Language Training Centre (G-LTC), to share information about the program.
The programme was launched as part of an effort to improve training in the German policing profession.
